Gospel chords have come a long way and have left great marks through the corridors of time.
Ever since time immemorial, these chords have been played in the most pristine churches to the modest country chapels in towns and villages. These gospel chords play an important role in every race and religion. They symbolize not only peace, but tranquility and heaven as well.
The gospel chords that we know of today are not that different from the previous chords which were played some four thousand years ago. It only means that the people inhabiting the earth before us also practiced and lived in a highly spiritual world. These gospel chords were used to sanctify the homes of our ancestors and now they are played to bring quietude and harmony to our world.
Gospel Chords Have African Roots
The original gospel chords used thousands of years ago were first played by Africans. They used music to give meaning to the many aspects of life such as agriculture, sexual fertility, hunting, war and their religions. The Africans played these gospel chords using instruments that they crafted on their own. The music is viewed as a requirement for satisfaction in life. Before a great harvest, they played these tunes to thank their Gods for a bountiful crop. In hunting, they used music to dignify gratitude for whatever food they may bring at home. And in war, they play this solemn music to ask for blessings from their Gods. Most importantly, it is played in their rituals during religious events. From its African roots, the gospel chords traveled to Europe, to America and finally to Asia.
Gospel Chords Are A Call For Salvation
During the times when the world was conquered by fear because of war, these gospel chords became very popular in bringing peace among men. Gospel was greatly used as a tool to draw harmony closer to the hearts of the people. Although it was never really a solution to the tribulations they experienced, the tunes lured hope to the people. It carries and conveys a sense of anticipation for freedom among individuals.
Today, these chords can still be heard in churches and in holy places. It can also be heard even from our very own homes. It is not only present to Christian countries but to the Islamic nation as well. Perhaps, the gospel chords are something that we could pass on to the next generation.
