The South Park Episode on World of Warcraft is One of the Best

South Park is a cartoon that has been around for years now. It is not only funny, but its blatant commentary on what is going on in society can sometimes be thought-provoking. In the early part of the 21st century, the online game World of Warcraft became immensely popular, so of course the creators of South Park had to have a World of Warcraft South Park episode. World of Warcraft: Becoming Addicted

While World of Warcraft is a brilliant example of how computer graphics can be designed in realistic ways, it has also been criticized because it causes game addiction. It is this addiction and relative pointlessness of the game that serves as the backdrop for the South Park World of Warcraft episode.

The South Park World of Warcraft episode starts with (Cartman, Stan, Kenny, and Kyle) are all playing World of Warcraft together in an area of the game known as Goldshire. The look of this particular episode is different, because the South Park creators and the World of Warcraft creators worked together on it. Unfortunately, the boys cannot really play the game, because there is a player who is the highest level possible (70) killing them with one blow apiece. The player, while he looks cool in the game, is actually a dirty, overweight male who never leaves his computer. This is a parody on the players who have become addicted to the game.

So, in this South Park World of Warcraft episode, Cartman comes up with a plan: they kill thousands of low-level creatures so that they can level up, form an army, and defeat the level 70 player who keeps killing them. Of course, in doing so they become addicted to the game too.

Meanwhile, Stan’s father feels left out. He wants to spend time with Stan, but Stan is too busy playing World of Warcraft. So, Stan’s father decides that he will join World of Warcraft too, with hilarious results.

The level 70 player continues mercilessly killing hundreds of players at a time, and Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of World of Warcraft, decide that something drastic must be done. They get out a secret weapon that will get kill the level 70 player: The Sword of a Thousand Truths. Stan’s father is entrusted with delivering the sword…

Part of the reason why this South Park World of Warcraft episode is so funny is because it is very true in some parts. Even those who do not play the game will find it funny. So, definitely watch this episode of South Park if you are curious about the game, and want to laugh!
